Our process draws on your Child's developmental and educational history via a clinical assessment form, test results, and observations with Parent and Teacher feedback.

We provide informal results on the day of the assessment and a detailed written report with results and recommendations within 2-3 weeks of the assessment.

We are available for advice along the way.

If Psychological treatment is required, you will be prioritised on our waitlist as an existing Muse client.

Our Assessments

Autism Assessment

ASD diagnosis requires a comprehensive psychological assessment using a range of assessment tools, observations, and interview methods. â€‹â€‹

Autism assessments can help with:

  • Identifying a child’s unique behaviours, interests, social, and communication abilities.

  • Developing a tailored management and learning support plan.

  • Assisting with applications for school and government funding and access to a specialised support teacher.

ADHD Assessment

This assessment is a comprehensive evaluation to identify whether your child may present with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This assessment involves interviews, observation, cognitive assessment, review of school reports, and questionnaires completed by the child, teachers, carers, and/or others who regularly interact with your child. ADHD assessments aim to evaluate executive functioning capacity, as well as challenging behaviour in children and adolescents, particularly in the areas of inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity.

Specific Learning Disorder

Specific learning disorder (SLD) testing involves a combination of observation, interviews, and standardised tests. The goal is to identify a person's strengths and weaknesses in learning, and to determine if they have a specific learning disorder.

SLD's assessed at Muse include impairments in:

  • Reading (Dyslexia)

  • Written Expression (Dysgraphia)

  • Mathematics (Dyscalculia)

  • Non Verbal Learning Difficulties

Developmental Assessment

A developmental assessment involves a combination of parent and teacher feedback and questionnaires, observations, and cognitive assessment. This comprehensive assessment helps you to understand whether your child is meeting their developmental milestones and how they are completing activities of daily living in comparison to same-aged peers.

Cognitive Assessment

Also known as an IQ test, helps to identify a child’s potential for learning and their preferred learning style. Cognitive assessments help psychologists to determine a child’s strengths and challenges in several cognitive skill areas including verbal comprehension, visuospatial skills, fluid reasoning, working memory, and processing speed.

Educational Assessment

Also known as an academic assessment, measures how a child is performing in a range of academic skill areas, and how this compares with same age or grade peers.

Educational assessments help psychologists to identify a child’s academic strengths and skill levels in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and written expression.

Behavioural Assessment

This assessment is a comprehensive evaluation to identify whether your child may present with mood issues, emotional regulation issues, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), and Conduct Disorder.  Behavioural assessments aim to evaluate challenging behaviour in children and adolescents, and ascertain areas for targeted support.
